About Me

"You have a wonderful knack for plunging us into a world of your own invention. Thanks for the ride, and the attention to paragraphs."

 - Grade 7 English teacher Gary Collins’ comments on Eleanor’s short story, “The Effect of the Flu on Gownsville.”

I’m a writer and communications consultant based in Nova Scotia, Canada. My job is to read broadly, observe in detail, question, challenge, envision and communicate. I’ve worked in cutting edge advertising and PR agencies, conscientious federal government departments, hungry newsrooms and quiet, solitary offices.

As a journalist, I’ve interviewed some of Canada’s top politicians, CEOs, environmentalists and writers, from whom I’ve learned an immense amount. I’ve listened with empathy and curiosity to courageous, everyday people talk about the tragedies, synchronicities, conscious decisions and happy accidents that shape their lives.

As a business owner, I’ve strategized, negotiated hard bargains, administered a growing business, mentored up-and-comers, planned events, produced ground-breaking reports and helped organizations and people communicate in a clever, clear and authentic way.

My clients and colleagues describe me the same way my friends and family do: adventurous, competitive, kind, funny, direct. (And tall.)

I have a magnificent book collection, a special place in my heart for New Mexico and a passion for all things athletic. To find out how I did in my last kayaking race, how long it took me to read War and Peace, or to find out more about my work, you need only ask.
